Melanotan II

Sexual HealthSingle
Also known as: MT-II, MT2

A non-selective melanocortin receptor agonist studied originally for tanning. Also produces libido and erectile effects via MC4R, separate from MC1R-driven tanning.

Half-life
33 h
Common dose
250 – 1000 mcg
Dosing frequency
As Needed
Administration
Subcutaneous

How it works

MT-II activates MC1R (producing tanning via melanin), MC3R/4R (producing libido/erection), and MC5R. The non-selectivity is what produces both desired tanning effect and side effects.

Protocol notes

Loading protocols use 250–500 mcg subcutaneously daily until tan is achieved, then maintenance 1–2 doses weekly. Cycles vary widely. For sexual function, 500 mcg–1 mg as-needed.

Reported side effects

Nausea (especially first few doses), facial flushing, decreased appetite, persistent erection, new moles, darkening of existing moles. Long-term skin-cancer concerns due to MC1R activation.
