How it works
PPS has heparin-like properties, modulates inflammatory cytokines, and influences cartilage matrix turnover. It supports proteoglycan synthesis and may reduce protease activity in joint tissues.
Protocol notes
Veterinary and human research protocols vary widely. Subcutaneous courses of 2–3 mg/kg weekly for 4–6 weeks are reported. Long-term use requires monitoring for clotting effects.
Reported side effects
Increased bleeding risk (mild anticoagulant effect), nausea, and rare reports of pigmentary maculopathy with long-term use.
