PT-141
Sexual HealthSingleAlso known as: Bremelanotide, Vyleesi
A melanocortin-receptor agonist approved for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women, also used off-label for libido in men.
Half-life
2 h
Common dose
1 – 2 mg
Dosing frequency
As Needed
Administration
Subcutaneous, Intranasal
How it works
PT-141 activates central melanocortin receptors (primarily MC4R) in the brain, increasing sexual arousal through neural rather than vascular pathways — distinct from PDE5 inhibitors like sildenafil.
Protocol notes
Clinical dosing is 1.75 mg subcutaneously 45 minutes before sexual activity, max 8 doses per month. Research protocols vary 1–2 mg as-needed. Intranasal forms exist but absorb less consistently.
Reported side effects
Nausea (very common), flushing, headache, transient blood-pressure elevation, dark spots on skin with chronic use.
